Brazilian teenagers defeated Peru
COLIMA, Mexico, June 22, 2007.- Brazil established its talent and
overall ability to defeat Peru 25-18, 25-23, 25-16 in a battle of
South American teams in Pool B.
Once again, the young Brazilian squad of teenagers executed near
to perfection in all the elements of the game and left no doubts
about which was the best team on the court.
Silvana Papini, Natalia Pereira and Tandara Caixeta with 14, 12
and 11 points respectively were the top Brazilian scorers while
the 13 tallies of Leyla Chihuan led Peru.
“This only our second step but a very important one,” said Pereira
during the post game press conference. “Our team is playing
together and that has been the key thus far.”
“The first two sets were close and only in the third Brazil
dominated,” said Chihuán. “I think the blocking of Brazil was the
difference.”
